As a film comedian, Hope was pretty much unbeatable. For his timing, his cowardly wiseguy persona and his superb acting. Woody Allen once said that he was the very best and you can see a hell of a lot of Hope in Allen's earlier, funnier films.

His best work, in my opinion: Road To Morocco, Son of Paleface, Princess and the Pirate, The Cat and The Canary ("Don't big old empty houses scare you?" "No, I was in vaudeville for years."), Road To Utopia.

It's nice to see him get some kudos for a change.
